Every Hogwarts Legacy Potion & How To Craft Them
Potions are an important part of Hogwarts Legacy. In combination with spells, they can help overcome challenges, but crafting them can be tricky.
Hogwarts Legacy offers fans of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter a great adventure and experience full of magic and wonder. After attending their first Potions Class, players will unlock the ability to craft potions for use throughout the rest of the game. New potion recipes can be learned through quests and by purchasing them from vendors in the game. Once players unlock the Room of Requirement, they can craft potions whenever they like at their own Potions stations.

Potions grant players boosts in attack or defense and perform other magic like healing or turning the player invisible. It's up to the player to decide which potions to use when, in conjunction with what spells, so they can dispatch enemies swiftly and survive the most dangerous encounters. The ingredients for most potions can easily be found in the game world or by growing them in the Room of Requirement, but some are a little trickier to craft than others.
The Wiggenweld potion is one of the first potions players learn to craft and is also one of the most important. It is a health regeneration potion that is pivotal in battles, especially on harder difficulties and against numerous foes. As players learn the combat system, they are sure to take some hits, and when their health meters drop, uncorking a bottle of Wiggenweld can save the day.
Wiggenweld is easy to craft and the ingredients are found fairly easily in the world and from vendors in Hogsmeade and the Hamlets throughout the game. Dittany seeds can be purchased from the Magic Neep in Hogsmeade, and then grown in the Room of Requirement. The completed potion can also be found in chests throughout the world and bought from some traveling vendors as well.
Edurus is Hogwarts Legacy's main Defense potion. It raises the player's defense stats temporarily. It's a great potion to take just before heading into a battle against a group of foes or against a large foe like a troll. Edurus can give players a defensive boost that allows them to take hits that would normally eliminate them, letting them survive long enough to counter the attack or take a Wiggenweld potion and recover some health.RELATED: 10 Best Combat Spells In Hogwarts Legacy, Ranked
The ingredients for Edurus are fairly easy to find, so whenever players see the little nests of red eggs they should pick them up, and players should take out groups of Mongrels to collect their fur. They are easily dispatched with a couple of spells, and shouldn't provide too much trouble. Both items can also be purchased from vendors.
While a potion like Edurus gives players a defensive boost, Maxima boosts their offensive capabilities, increasing the strength of spells that are cast. Like Edurus, Maxima is great for when players know they are taking on many foes or a large enemy. The boost in attack power can be devastating when used correctly. First disarming enemies, then casting Stupefy, and following up with attack spells while under the influence of Maxima can lead to very short duels where enemy health bars disappear in no time.
Ingredients for Maxima are common enough. Leeches are found near water, so players should keep an eye out around ponds, rivers, and the perimeter of the lake. Spider fangs cause a bit more trouble as players must kill spiders in order to collect them, so any arachnophobes may be in for a struggle. Spiders are best dealt with Confringo and Incendio, as they can explode when hit after being ignited.
The Focus potion is handy in a battle as it reduces the cooldown of spells. Most spells like Depulso, Confringo, and Incendio have a moderately long cooldown, so when players are in the middle of a battle and go try to cast one in a combo, they can be left with a wand as broken as Ron's was in Chamber of Secrets. Because spells can be used together, combining their effects for devastating results, it's important to keep them ready to use at a moment's notice. Focus keeps players' top spells cooled and ready to use.
Focus's ingredients can be tricky to come across, but a keen eye can find them. Lacewing flies are gathered from the little flies around glowing bushes and Fluxweed Stem can be grown in the Room of Requirement, once players unlock it. Seeds can be purchased from the Magic Neep in Hogsmeade, as well as the plant itself. Dugbog Tongues come from Dugbogs, of course, so a hazardous trip to swampy areas might be necessary.
This potion is perfect for witches or wizards who have fantasies about being Thor, God of Thunder. Thunderbrew conjures a stormy cloud that hovers above the player and follows them around until it evaporates after a set period of time. The cloud periodically shoots out bolts of lighting that stun and damage nearby enemies, working like a stunning shield for any close proximity encounters.

Ingredients can be found in the wild or from specific vendors. Leech juice is easily found from leeches near water spots like rivers or ponds. Shrivelfig fruit can be grown in the Room of Requirement, provided players have a table with medium-sized pots for cultivating the fruit. The seeds can be bought from the Magic Neep in Hogsmeade. Stench of the Dead is the material dropped by Inferi, the zombie-like creatures found in caves and graveyards throughout the world. Inferi can only be damaged after being hit with a fire spell, so they can be tricky to deal with, but easy enough with Confringo and Incendio.
The invisibility potion works as advertised and makes players invisible. It only lasts for a short period of time but it can be useful in a pinch. While the Disillusionment charm also makes players nearly invisible, it stops working when players perform other spells or roll. It also takes up a space in a spell set, and with a limited number of spells allowed, players need to choose wisely, and downing an invisibility potion can open up a slot for an offensive spell.
With the exception of Troll Bogeys, the ingredients for the Invisibility potion are easy enough to come by. Those can only be harvested by defeating a troll, which can be a challenging battle. Knotgrass can be grown by players in the Room of Requirement after purchasing seeds from The Magic Neep in Hogsmeade and Leaping Toadstools are found throughout the game's world. Players just need to look for the little hopping mushroom patches and then harvest them.
Felix Felicis, also known as Liquid Luck, is an interesting potion, as the recipe was only available as a pre-order bonus for PlayStation users. No luck was required in this recipe, just a PlayStation console. It's unfortunate that other players won't be able to craft this helpful potion, but the developers may make it available for all witches and wizards at a later date. The Felix Felicis potion, once taken, makes large chests show up on the mini-map for one full day in-game. It's helpful for players hunting down chests for loot, saving them the trouble of constantly casting Revelio.
Felix Felicis's ingredients are easy enough to find, as Fluxweed can be grown in the Room of Requirement after purchasing seeds from the Magic Neep in Hogsmeade, and Lacewing flies can be harvested from the little glowing bugs hovering around bushes located throughout the world.NEXT: 10 Harshest Anti-Piracy Features In Videogames
