Six Blue Water Area athletes win track & field state championships

Correction: A previous version of this story did not include every local athlete who participated in the state finals.

Six of the best high school track & field athletes in Michigan are from the Blue Water Area. They proved it by winning state championships in the MHSAA finals on Saturday.

More than 80 local students competed across four divisions.

Here are the final results for each one, starting with the state champions. Athletes are listed alphabetically.

DIVISION 2

Janae Hudson, Marysville: The junior won the girls shot put and set a personal record with a distance of 42.7 feet.

DIVISION 3

Devin Johnston, Almont: The senior won the girls 100 meters and set a personal record with a time of 12.14 seconds. Johnston also won the 200 meters and set a personal record at 24.98 seconds.

DIVISION 4

Alex Affer, Peck: The senior won the boys long jump and set a personal record with a leap of 23.4 feet.

Kyle Affer, Brown City: The senior won the boys shot put and set a personal record with a distance of 49.2 feet.

Olivia Findlay, Marlette: The junior won the girls high jump with a height of 5.4 feet.

Tyler Lenn, Cardinal Mooney: The junior won the boys 1,600 meters and set a Division 4 state record with a time of 4:14.30.

PORT HURON NORTHERN

Glen Davis: The senior placed 17th in the boys 3,200 meters with a time of 9:44.69. Davis was also the anchor leg of the 4x800 relay team that finished at 8:23.12.

Maya Freeman: The senior finished 20th in the girls shot put with a distance of 34.4 feet.

Therese Georgia: The senior finished with a time of 12:19.52 in the girls 3,200 meters.

Grant Gosner: The junior was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished with a time of 8:23.12.

Matt LaFreniere: The senior was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished with a time of 8:23.12.

Margaret Monaghan: The senior placed seventh in the girls long jump with a leap of 17.1 feet. Monaghan also finished 19th in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 48.46 seconds.

Jayde Ullenbruch: The senior finished 16th in the girls long jump at 15.10 feet.

Luke VanderHeuvel: The junior was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished with a time of 8:23.12.

ARMADA

Riley Andrews: The senior was part of the boys 4x400 relay team that placed 14th with a time of 3:31.30.

Ava Baltierra: The junior was part of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 12th with a time of 9:52.07.

Kyle Coenen: The senior was part of the boys 4x400 relay team that placed 14th with a time of 3:31.30.

Breanna Feys: The junior was part of the girls 4x400 relay team that finished 15th with a time of 4:16.24.

Brooklyn Khon: The sophomore was the anchor of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 12th with a time of 9:52.07. She was also the anchor leg of the 4x400 relay team that placed 15th at 4:16.24.

Camden Khon: The senior finished fourth and set a personal record in the boys 1,600 meters with a time of 4:16.94. Khon was also part of the boys 4x400 relay team that placed 14th at 3:31.30.

Samantha Kook: The junior was part of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 12th with a time of 9:52.07.

Darrah McKenzie: The junior was part of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 12th with a time of 9:52.07.

Alayna Nowik: The senior was part of the girls 4x400 relay team that finished 15th with a time of 4:16.24.

Andrew Sniesak: The senior was the anchor leg of the boys 4x400 relay team that placed 14th with a time of 3:31.30.

Ellen Sutton: The senior was part of the girls 4x400 relay team that finished 15th with a time of 4:16.24.

CROSWELL-LEXINGTON

Abagayle Barkley: The junior was part of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 21st with a time of 10:09.70.

Brynn Hurley: The junior was part of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 21st with a time of 10:09.70.

Robert Loomis: The senior placed ninth and set a personal record in the boys pole vault with a height of 12.10 feet.

Trey Kolakovich: The senior finished 14th in the boys high jump with a leap of 6.1 feet.

Morgan Newton: The junior was part of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 21st with a time of 10:09.70.

Eva Thompson: The sophomore finished seventh and set a personal record in the girls 1,600 meters with a time of 5:05.09. She also placed 11th in the 3,200 meters (11:27.87) and was the anchor leg of the 4x800 relay team that finished 21st (10:09.70).

MARINE CITY

John Coverdill: The sophomore was part of the boys 4x200 relay team that finished with a time of 1:37.15.

Carly Frank: The senior placed sixth in the girls high jump with a height of leap of 5.3 feet.

Bodie Ramsey: The junior was the anchor leg of the boys 4x200 relay team that finished with a time of 1:37.15.

Grant Westrick: The junior was part of the boys 4x200 relay team that finished with a time of 1:37.15.

Finn Wulf: The sophomore was part of the boys 4x200 relay team that finished with a time of 1:37.15.

MARYSVILLE

Janae Hudson: In addition to winning the state championship for girls shot put, Hudson placed fourth in the discus at 125.1 feet.

Tyler Simpson: The senior finished 16th in the boys shot put with a throw of 141.11 feet.

Alyssa Thomas: The senior placed 11th in the girls shot put with a throw of 34.5 feet.

ST. CLAIR

Carter Boullard: The senior placed 20th in the boys 800 meters with a time of 2:01.36. Boullard was also the anchor leg of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished 11th at 8:06.81.

David Harris: The senior was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished 11th with a time of 8:06.81.

Jack Howell: The junior was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished 11th with a time of 8:06.81.

Hunter Richardson: The senior placed 14th in the boys shot put with a distance of 47.4 feet. Richardson also finished 14th in the discus at 145 feet.

Vinny Schweihofer: The junior was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished 11th with a time of 8:06.81.

YALE

Brett Bearss: The junior was part of the boys 4x200 relay team that finished with a time of 1:33.25.

Acer Campbell: The junior was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that placed seventh with a time of 7:57.16.

Sadie Dykstra: The freshman placed fifth and set a personal record in the girls 100-meter hurdles with a time of 15.59 seconds. Dykstra also finished fourth in the long jump (17.5 feet) and sixth in the 300-meter hurdles (47.93 seconds).

Blake Ferguson: The junior placed third and set a personal record in the boys 400 meters with a time of 49.29 seconds. Ferguson was also the anchor leg of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished seventh at 7:57.16.

Michael Ferguson: The senior was the anchor leg of the boys 4x200 relay team that finished with a time of 1:33.25.

Luke Kecskes: The senior placed eighth in the boys pole vault with a height of 12.10 feet. Kecskes was also part of the boys 4x200 relay team that finished with a time of 1:33.25.

Lukas Kriesch: The senior finished 23rd in the boys 3,200 meters with a time of 9:53.98. Kriesch was also part of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished seventh at 7:57.16.

Giovanni Pardo-Keegan: The junior was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that finished seventh with a time of 7:57.16.

Logan Vincent: The senior was part of the boys 4x200 relay team that finished with a time of 1:33.25.

ALGONAC

Kate Bennett: The sophomore placed 17th and set a personal record in the girls 800 meters with a time of 2:34.79. Bennett was also part of the 4x800 relay team that finished 25th at 11:39.87.

David Clemons: The junior placed 11th and set a personal record in the boys 1,600 meters with a time of 4:55.47.

Vanessa Gadd: The senior placed 11th in the girls high jump with a leap of 9 feet.

Charlie Harms: The sophomore was part of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 25th with a time of 11:39.87.

Evelyn Osterbeck: The freshman was part of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 25th with a time of 11:39.87.

Jasmine Walker: The freshman was the anchor leg of the girls 4x800 relay team that finished 25th with a time of 11:39.87.

Julian Walker: The freshman finished 23rd in the boys 3,200 meters with a time of 11:22.99.

ALMONT

Matthew Bacholzky: The freshman finished 14th and set a personal record in the boys long jump with a leap of 19.10 feet. Bacholzky also placed 20th in the 400 meters with a time of 54.23 seconds. Additionally, he was part of the 4x400 relay team that finished 16th at 3:41.36.

Chase Battani: The sophomore placed third in the boys pole vault with a height of 14 feet.

Monserrat Coronel: The junior was part of the girls 4x100 relay team that placed fourth with a time of 50.92 seconds.

Laila Evola: The freshman finished the girls 3,200 meters with a time of 14:51.15.

Isabella Gianetti: The senior posted a leap of 7.9 feet in the girls high jump.

Devin Johnston: In addition to winning state championships in the girls 100 meters and 200 meters, Johnston was the anchor leg of the 4x100 relay team that finished fourth at 50.92 seconds.

Nolan Maxlow: The sophomore was part of the boys 4x400 relay team that finished 16th with a time of 3:41.36.

Ava Panduren: The junior was part of the girls 4x100 relay team that placed fourth with a time of 50.92 seconds.

Wade Szydlowski: The senior was the anchor leg of the boys 4x400 relay team that finished 16th with a time of 3:41.36.

Christy Tristler: The junior was part of the girls 4x100 relay team that placed fourth with a time of 50.92 seconds.

Drew VanDyke: The senior placed 10th in the boys discus with a throw of 139.6 feet. VanDyke also finished 25th in the shot put at 39.3 feet.

Cole Walton: The junior was part of the boys 4x400 relay team that finished 16th with a time of 3:41.36.

BROWN CITY

Kyra Beemer: The sophomore finished 23rd and set a personal record in the girls 1,600 meters with a time of 5:44.75.

Wynn Blake: The senior finished 11th in the boys pole vault with a height of 11 feet.

Carson Burgess: The freshman placed 19th in the boys 1,600 meters with a time of 4:50.93. He also competed in the 3,200 meters with a finish of 11:10.82.

Anna Lyons: The freshman finished 18th in the girls high jump with a leap of 4.10 feet.

CARDINAL MOONEY

Drew Dawidowicz: The senior finished 17th in the boys shot put with a distance of 40.3 feet.

Gabriela Gashaj: The senior placed sixth in the girls 300-meter hurdles and set a personal record with a time of 48.32 seconds. She also finished 15th in the long jump with a leap of 15.9 feet.

Evan Jacobs: The sophomore was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that placed 13th with a time of 8:39.54.

Tyler Lenn: In addition to winning the state championship for the boys 1,600 meters, Lenn was also the anchor leg of the 4x800 relay team that finished 13th at 8:39.54.

Jack Luzynski: The sophomore was part of the boys 4x800 relay team that placed 13th with a finish of 8:39.54.

Isaac Zammit: The junior placed 10th in the boys 800 meters with a time of 2:05.05. Zammit also finished 21st in the 1,600 meters at 4:52.27 and was part of the 4x800 relay team that placed 13th at 8:39.54.

MARLETTE

Turlough Bennett: The sophomore finished 17th in the boys 800 meters with a time of 2:08.44.

Alexandra Findlay: The freshman placed fifth in the girls pole vault with a height of 9.3 feet.

Olivia Findlay: In addition to winning the state championship in the girls high jump, Findlay finished sixth in the long jump with a distance of 16.5 feet.

Tyler Izydorek: The junior placed fifth and set a personal record in the boys pole vault with a height of 12.9 feet.

Lily Lemanski: The senior finished 12th and set a personal record in the girls 800 meters with a time of 2:30.82.

Jack Macha: The senior finished 22nd in the boys discus with a distance of 112.7 feet.

Logan Malloy: The junior placed second in the boys pole vault with a height of 13 feet.

Lily Parker: The junior placed second in the girls shot put with a distance of 38.8 feet. Parker also finished 11th in the discus at 105.6 feet.
