The American Cancer Society is hosting its annual Relay For Life this fall in Tuscola County
Participants can run, donate or get informed about cancer awareness and other vital resources at the event in Tuscola County this month.
Relay For Life of Tuscola County is hosting its annual event Sept. 17 at the Caro Farmers Market to raise money for the American Cancer Society.
"This year's event is shorter than usual, but it's packed with fun," event Chairperson Chris Vroman said. "We’re hoping for a huge turnout that will lay the groundwork for an even bigger Relay for next year."
Relay For Life is the world's largest peer-to-peer fundraising event dedicated to saving lives from cancer. For years communities, families, and friends have come together to honor and remember loved ones and raise funds for support for cancer patients, access to lifesaving screenings, and cancer research.
Tuscola County has helped the American Cancer Society raise more than $1.25 million to help counter and attack all cancers.
This year's event will feature a number of different activities, including a candy guessing game, live music, raffles, various challenges, games, tournaments for all ages and much more.
"Tuscola has a small, but wildly passionate group of Relayers working to rebuild momentum after a couple very tough years," American Cancer Society's Senior Development Manager Trisha Jackson said. "I’m excited to see how the community responds."
The event will officially begin at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 17 with an opening ceremony. During the opening ceremony, there will be a Luminaria Ceremony and an uplifting survivor ceremony.
